What is a Car Seat Adapter?
A car seat adapter is a car seat accessory that is designed to ‘adapt’ a car seat to fit a stroller or baby carrier effortlessly to minimize major baby movements while on the go. Selecting a car seat adapter requires you to assess a few things about your preferences and of course, your kid’s requirements.
Selecting a Car Seat Adapter
You have made the wise decision to buy a car seat adapter, but now you have to figure out what kind of car seat adapter to buy. These are LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) compatible, and some even allow you to move your kid seamlessly from car to stroller and vice versa, without unbuckling or unstrapping the car seat.
Mothercare suggests some factors you need to keep in mind before selecting a car seat adapter and car seat accessories:
1. Safety
As a parent, keeping your kid safe in a moving car has to be your top priority. Hence, it is important to ensure that your kid is restrained in a car safety seat appropriate for his/her age, height and weight, and that the adapter fits perfectly to the seat.
GCC market research indicates that expensive car seats aren’t necessarily the safest ones. As long as parents invest in a dependable brand with recognised quality their child should be safe and sound. Child seat classifications in the GCC market are as follows:
Group 0 & 0+ Seats:
A rear-facing seat is recommended for every new-born baby. Child safety seats for group 0 can hold a baby with a maximum weight of 10kg. While the seats in group 0+, are slightly bigger and can hold a child of up to 13kg.
Group 1 Seats:
Upon reaching 9 months of age, a group 1 forward facing car seat is recommended for your child, and this car seat can last them up to 4 years of age. It’s for children weighing between 9 kg and 18 kg.
Group 2 & 3 Seats:
Once your child reaches 4 years of age, it is best you switch now to a group 2 booster seat. These seats are well-cushioned and have side-protection features. It’s for children weighing between 15kg and 25kg.
Group 3 booster seats come slightly modified than group 2 seats and will suit your child after the age of 6.
